BJP steps up grassroots push ahead of Assam assembly polls

The CSR Journal Magazine

With the Assembly elections approaching, the Assam Pradesh unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has intensified its organisational and campaign activities across the state, indicating an early and structured start to its poll preparations.
BJP spokesperson Kalyan Gogoi said the party has launched a series of district- and mandal-level programmes following the formal inauguration of its election campaign through the “Wall Writing” initiative. The campaign was jointly launched by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and state BJP president Dilip Saikia.

As part of the outreach drive, the BJP is organising district executive committee meetings across all 39 organisational districts of Assam from January 5 to 11. Held under the slogan “Once Again, a BJP-Led Alliance Government”, the meetings are aimed at reviewing organisational readiness and drawing up a detailed roadmap for the upcoming elections.

Focus on governance record and grassroots mobilisation

According to the party, the meetings are focusing on gathering ground-level feedback, strengthening booth-level organisational structures, and finalising strategies to connect with voters in both urban and rural areas. Senior leaders from the state unit have been deputed to various districts to guide deliberations and ensure coordination between the party leadership and grassroots workers.

Highlighting the performance of the BJP-led state government under Chief Minister Sarma, the party cited initiatives such as transparent recruitment processes, employment-oriented policies, industrial expansion in sectors including semiconductors and fertilisers, action against illegal encroachments, protection of Satras, deportation of illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators, and measures aimed at enhancing women’s safety. The government has also underlined the establishment of universities, medical colleges and technical institutions across districts, along with steps to curb mob violence and fast-track people-centric development projects.

While expressing confidence that these initiatives will strike a chord with voters, the BJP maintained that it is not taking public support for granted. The party emphasised the need for organisational discipline, continuous feedback from the ground, and sustained engagement with the electorate.

The ongoing district executive committee meetings, the BJP said, are intended to reaffirm the party’s collective resolve to take its message to every corner of Assam and work towards forming “once again, a BJP-led alliance government” in the state.
