In a much-awaited announcement for lakhs of candidates waiting to become teachers in Bihar, state Education Minister Sunil Kumar has directed the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) to conduct Teacher Recruitment Examination Phase 4 (TRE 4) before August 10, 2025.
TRE 4 will fill over 80,000 posts, including the 21,397 vacant posts from TRE 3. This includes 52,026 primary teacher posts, 36,645 posts for secondary teachers (Classes 1–5), 30,970 posts for secondary teachers (Classes 6–8), and 40,554 posts for higher secondary teachers (Classes 9–12). The examination and recruitment process will be conducted by BPSC.
Unfilled Vacancies in TRE 3 will be included in TRE 4
In the recently conducted TRE 3 examination, vacancies for a total of 87,774 posts were announced, out of which 66,603 candidates were successful. However, 21,397 posts remain vacant and will be included in TRE 4.
Bihar Education Minister has stated that the vacancies left unfilled in TRE 3 will be included in TRE 4, providing more opportunities for candidates. More than 80,000 posts will be filled through TRE 4. Appointment letters for the 66,603 candidates selected under TRE 3 will be issued before August 10, 2025.
Teacher Recruitment Exam 4
The TRE 4 will be of total 150 marks which include 50 marks from general studies and 100 marks from the relevant subject. There will be no negative marking. Candidates are advised to regularly check the official BPSC website for the latest updates.
This recruitment drive will increase the number of teachers in approximately 75,000 schools across Bihar, significantly improving the teacher-student ratio.
Bihar Special School Teacher Eligibility Test (BSSTET)
Meanwhile, the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) will organise the Bihar Special School Teacher Eligibility Test (BSSTET) for the recruitment of 7,279 special teachers. These teachers will assist children with special needs enrolled in general school classes. Even though the date of the official test has not been declared yet, the official announcement is expected to come soon.
Special Teachers Exam Details and Eligibility
The exam which will be conducted over 2 hours and 30 minutes, will contain 150 multiple-choice questions. No negative marking will be done. The recruitment will be organised in two categories. Paper 1 will be for 5,534 posts for teaching students in classes 1 to 5. Paper 2 will be for 1,745 posts for teaching students in classes 6 to 8. For appearing in either category, candidates have to clear the BSSTET exam first.
For classes 1 to 5: The candidate should have obtained a minimum of 50 per cent in Class 12 and should have passed a D.El.Ed or B.Ed in Special Education.
For classes 6 to 8: A bachelor’s degree and B.Ed in Special Education are required.
Applicants should be a minimum of 18 years old and should not be more than 47 years of age.
