Assam Excise Department Commends Team Dimoria for Inter-State Liquor Raids

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Assam Excise Department has officially acknowledged the remarkable efforts of the Dimoria Excise Circle in successfully dismantling an alleged illicit liquor syndicate. This recognition highlights the prompt and effective operations conducted by a devoted team committed to maintaining law and order. The commendation took place on August 18, with key figures from the Excise Department, including Commissioner of Excise Jitu Doly, present to honour the team. They expressed their appreciation through a ceremony at the Commissioner’s office.

Details of the Operation

The operation, demonstrating robust governance and a zero-tolerance approach, occurred at the Assam-Meghalaya border. Under the strategic leadership of Senior Excise Officer Pritam Purkaistha and in direct oversight by Superintendent of Excise Debajit Nath, enforcement officials intercepted a commercial vehicle at the Sonapur Toll Plaza. During the operation, officers uncovered 123 cartons containing Beer and Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), which were illicitly intended for sale beyond the state of Meghalaya.

Following the apprehension, interrogations were conducted that allowed officers to trace the origin of the illegal goods. A targeted raid was subsequently executed at a cargo warehouse situated in Moraxali, Paltan Bazar, where CCTV footage confirmed the loading information. This led to the detention of two employees from the facility and the primary driver of the vehicle, who has since been remanded into judicial custody.

Superintendent Debajit Nath emphasised the importance of teamwork in their operations, stating that the success of enforcement actions stems from collective efforts rather than individual excesses. The coordinated approach of the team reflects a unified dedication to safeguarding the interests of the public and upholding legal standards.

Impact of High-Level Recognition

The commendation has had a significant impact on the morale within the Excise Department. Senior Excise Officer Sailendra Pandey remarked on the value of receiving recognition from the upper echelons of authority. This high-level endorsement is deemed vital for enhancing the confidence and operational effectiveness of the department. He stated that such encouragement serves as a strong motivational factor, inspiring every member of the organisation to maintain their commitment to enforcing the law.

The recognition of Team Dimoria stands as a testament to the effective functioning of the Excise Department at a time when illegal liquor smuggling remains a pressing issue. By affirming their dedication and success, the department aims to foster an environment in which law enforcement can adapt and respond effectively to emerging challenges.

Encouraged by this endorsement, officers across Assam’s Excise Department are expected to bolster their efforts in ensuring that the integrity of enforcement is upheld. The combined strength of the team is poised to address similar challenges in the future, reinforcing the law’s reach and authority in the region.
