Apple Eyes September 2026 Launch for iPhone Fold in India

The CSR Journal Magazine

Apple is set to introduce the iPhone Fold in India, with expectations for its debut alongside the iPhone 18 Pro models in September 2026. As the month approaches, rumours and reports about the foldable device continue to circulate. However, there is uncertainty about its exact availability, with some sources suggesting it will be available concurrently with the iPhone 18 Pro, while others indicate potential delays.

A report by Nikkei Asia highlights that Apple could face manufacturing challenges that might postpone shipments by several months, potentially deferring sales until 2027. In contrast, Bloomberg has reported that the launch may coincide with the release of Apple’s other non-foldable models, keeping fans of the brand curious about its future offerings.

iPhone Fold Design And Display Details

The design of the iPhone Fold has been a subject of interest, particularly based on a dummy image shared by tipster Sunny Dickson. It is designed to prioritise the user experience in its unfolded state, appearing wider and shorter when closed, resembling an iPad mini once opened. The outer display is anticipated to measure 5.5 inches, complemented by a 7.8-inch inner display, both reportedly utilising Samsung’s M16 OLED technology.

In a notable design shift, Apple is expected to forego Face ID on the iPhone Fold, opting instead for a Touch ID sensor embedded in the power button. This change is attributed to design limitations that complicate the integration of Face ID components due to the device’s slim profile.

Reports have also indicated a focus on the overall aesthetic and functionality of the device, aiming to set it apart in a burgeoning market of foldable smartphones.

Camera Specifications Of The iPhone Fold

In terms of photography capabilities, the iPhone Fold is expected to feature a dual rear camera setup. This configuration will likely consist of a 48-megapixel main lens paired with a 48-megapixel ultra-wide lens, though it appears to lack a telephoto option. Additionally, a 24-megapixel under-display camera is anticipated for the inner screen, along with a hole-punch camera positioned on the outer display for enhanced versatility.

These camera features aim to keep up with the demanding photography standards of consumers, ensuring the foldable phone remains competitive in its segment. The focus on high-resolution sensors indicates Apple’s commitment to maintaining quality in photography across its product range.

Performance, Storage, And Battery Information

The performance of the iPhone Fold is expected to be powered by Apple’s next-generation A20 Pro processor, which will be manufactured using a 2nm process. This advancement promises improved performance and efficiency over the A19 Pro found in the iPhone 17 Pro series. Alongside this, the device is projected to include 12GB of RAM and storage options of up to 1TB.

Battery capacity is another aspect generating interest, as the iPhone Fold may feature a battery range between 5,400mAh and 5,800mAh, potentially the largest ever included in an iPhone. It is expected to support eSIM only, meaning it will not have a physical SIM tray, aligning with Apple’s trend towards streamlined designs.

Additionally, speculation persists regarding branding, with indications that Apple may choose to market the device as either the foldable iPhone or as an iPhone Ultra, similar to its existing Ultra branding for smartwatches.
