On March 19, Air India flight AI185, which was scheduled to travel from New Delhi to Vancouver, made an unexpected return to its departure point due to operational issues. The airline confirmed this incident through an official statement, emphasizing adherence to established procedures.

Safe Landing and Passenger Support

The aircraft landed without incident, and all passengers and crew members were able to disembark safely. Air India expressed regret for the disruption caused to travelers by this situation. The airline’s ground teams in New Delhi promptly offered assistance, including hotel accommodations, while arrangements were made to ensure that passengers could reach their final destination as soon as possible. The flight was rescheduled and departed the following morning with all travelers onboard.

Air India’s Commitment to Safety

Air India reiterated its commitment to prioritize the safety and well-being of its passengers and crew. The incident occurred during a period in which the airline, along with others in the industry, has been increasing its international operations in response to the ongoing conflict in West Asia.

Expansion of International Flights Amid Rising Demand

In a related announcement, Air India revealed plans to operate additional flights on five key routes between March 19 and 28. This decision is aimed at addressing the heightened demand for international travel linked to the current situation in West Asia. The airline stated that it would be increasing its service on popular routes including Delhi-London (Heathrow), Mumbai-London (Heathrow), Delhi-Frankfurt, Delhi-Zurich, and Delhi-Toronto.

Additional Capacity to Enhance Travel Options

Over this nine-day period, Air India is set to operate 36 extra flights, which will add a total of 10,012 seats across these routes. This initiative seeks to provide passengers with more travel options during a time when choices may be limited. This follows a previous announcement where Air India had increased its flight capacity between March 10 and 18 with 78 additional flights across nine routes.

Long-Term Commitment to Service Expansion

As part of its ongoing efforts to meet customer needs, Air India stated that it will continue to operate additional flights to vital destinations in Europe and North America, extending through March 28.
