Agra Horror Case Ends in Encounter: Accused Who Killed Minor Shot Dead

A tragic incident unfolded in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, where a man was accused of kidnapping and brutally murdering an eight-year-old girl. This event took place on March 24 when the child went missing in the Tajganj neighborhood. Following her disappearance, the girl’s family promptly reported her missing, which led to the initiation of a police investigation and search operation.

Discovery of the Victim

The situation escalated when authorities discovered the victim’s body inside a drum filled with flour in the residence of the accused, identified as Sunil, a tenant in the area. Police reports indicated that Sunil had not only abducted the child but had also committed the act of murder by slitting her throat. The harrowing nature of the crime evoked shock and outrage among the local residents.

Police Response

In response to the incident, law enforcement quickly established a total of 12 teams to apprehend the suspect, who had fled the scene. To assist in this effort, authorities announced a cash reward of Rs 25,000 for any information leading to Sunil’s arrest. The police remained committed to bringing the accused to justice, mobilizing a multifaceted operation aimed at tracking him down.

Encounter with the Suspect

On the night of March 27-28, police received intelligence regarding Sunil’s potential location in the Bamrauli Katara vicinity. Operational teams were deployed to secure the area, intending to prevent his escape. During this operation, Sunil allegedly opened fire on the police, resulting in injuries to a sub-inspector. The police responded in self-defense, leading to Sunil being shot. He was subsequently taken to a nearby hospital for treatment but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

Official Statements and Evidence

Deputy Commissioner of Police (City) Syed Ali Abbas confirmed that the police have been engaged in relentless efforts to track down the suspect related to the child’s case. He elaborated that the operations were based on actionable intelligence that facilitated the ambush of the suspect. Equipment retrieved from the encounter included a Hero Splendor motorcycle lacking a number plate, a .315 bore country-made pistol, six spent cartridges, and three live cartridges.

Ongoing Investigation

Following the encounter and the developments leading to Sunil’s death, police have stated that they will continue with legal proceedings and evidence collection related to the case. This investigation remains a top priority for local authorities, who are striving to address the grave circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
