Video footage showing a woman pulling an eight-year-old boy and allegedly assaulting him from an elevator sparked widespread outrage in Greater Noida before. Local residents have begun protesting after the incident occurred in the 12th Avenue of Gaur City 2 residential society. The woman faced police detention because she entered with her unleashed dog in the elevator which led to this incident.
The child reached the elevator by himself on February 19 after finishing his evening tuition. The sudden appearance of a woman and dog before him make the boy feel panic. The boy asked the woman repeatedly to leave the dog outside the lift while she continued disregarding his requests. The woman took the boy out from the elevator while she allegedly hit him several times. The security footage shows the boy rushing back into the elevator where the woman attacked him again after exiting first.
Residents Demand Strict Action Against Woman
The attack on the minor brought residents from the society to gather at the complex where they formed protests calling punishment of the woman. Residents expressed concern about the woman because she had previously caused arguments with neighbours over the dog she kept. Concerned residents from the society discussed the woman’s actions while stressing their worries about child protection.
Social media users responded to the incident by criticising the woman’s behaviour and calling for severe legal consequences for her actions. Police officers came to the area following the incident and confirmed to the residents that they had filed a case. Senior Noida police official Shakti Mohan Awasthi confirmed the woman’s detention and stated that legal proceedings are underway.
