Dombivli, India: In a one-of-a-kind initiative, AIMS Hospital imparted Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training to 5 Govinda Pathaks in Dombivli during Dahi Handi celebrations to act quickly during medical emergencies.
Dahi Handi festival is a symbol of teamwork and tradition that is celebrated across Maharashtra. The celebration draws crowds eager and enthusiastic to witness the human pyramids that form to break open clay pots filled with curd. Unfortunately, injuries are a common occurrence during Dahi Handi that can also lead to the deaths of Govindas. Hence, by recognizing the importance of the health of Govindas during this crucial time, AIMS Hospital was determined to provide CPR training to equip Govindas with critical skills that save the lives of their fellow members who may experience a medical crisis during the festivities and keep the spirit of Dahi Handi intact.
“CPR training ensures preparedness and responsibility among team members when it comes to cardiac emergencies, unresponsive state after falls, not breathing or gasping for air. By understanding the basics of life-saving techniques like chest compressions and rescue breaths, each Govinda becomes trained in CPR to handle medical emergencies. CPR training is critical for personal safety and helps to injuries that could arise amid the celebrations. The skilled team of doctors at AIMS Hospital imparted CPR training to 5 Govinda Pathaks and around 70-100 Govindas. The Govinda Pathaks applauded the great initiative taken by the AIMS Hospital and pledged to administer CPR to those in need by playing the role of good Samaritans and engaging in community welfare,” said AIMS Hospital Doctors.
