Delhi-based NGO Wishes and Blessings has initiated the project #WBTyoharkaTohfa to brighten up the festive season for daily wagers, the elderly abandoned and destitute communities, commercial sex workers and their families.
#WBTyoharkaTohfa
Under this festive initiative, 500 underprivileged families across Delhi/NCR, Jharkhand and West Bengal will receive ration kits as well as a special box of sweets to make the festive season sweeter and happier.
Wishes and Blessings is conducting distribution drives beginning from 8th November in Delhi, Gurugram, Jamshedpur, Jharkhand and rural areas and villages near Asansol (West Bengal). Each kit contains enough provisions to feed a family of 5 for 10 days and includes rice, dal, oil, soap, atta, soya, spices, masks, and a box of sweets. The contents not only ensure the health and well-being of these families but will also bring rays of hope and light on an otherwise gloomy situation.
What is Wishes and Blessings?
Wishes and Blessings is a registered NGO based in Delhi. Set up under the aegis of Dr. Geetanjali Chopra in 2014, the organization cuts across the spectrum of gender and age to help those who need it. The NGO is a unique platform to connect donors and beneficiaries, to bring together those who are blessed to help those who have unfulfilled wishes.
They believe that happiness is not just an end, but a means to an end as well, and therefore do not have one focus area but nine causes among which are skill development, infrastructure, education and hygienic food.
Dr. Geetanjali Chopra, Founder and President, believes that everyone deserves a reason to be able to celebrate this Diwali. Although the kits do not provide long term relief, the organization hopes to boost the morale and spirits of the needy via this campaign, so that they may be able to experience festive joy even during the COVID-19 crisis.
Sponsor a 10-day ration kit with a box of sweets so someone else can have a special Diwali too. Each #WBTyoharkaTohfa kit costs only Rs. 750.
