President Murmu Scheduled to Visit Gujarat and Maharashtra from April 13 to 16

President Droupadi Murmu is set to begin her official visit to Gujarat on April 13, as confirmed by a statement from the President’s Secretariat. She will attend the inaugural convocation ceremony of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) located in Rajkot. This event marks a significant moment for the institution as it celebrates its first graduating class, showcasing the culmination of years of training for the students.

On April 14, the President will continue her engagement in Gujarat by attending the ‘Samajik Samrasta Mahotsava’ at Lok Bhavan in Gandhinagar. This event coincides with the birth anniversary of the revered social reformer BR Ambedkar, underscoring the importance of social harmony and equality in Indian society. Following this ceremony, she will grace the fifth convocation ceremony of Rashtriya Raksha University, also in Gandhinagar, further emphasising the focus on education and public service.

These activities illustrate the President’s commitment to promoting educational advancements and social justice in the region. Her presence at these ceremonies highlights the importance placed on healthcare and social equity as vital components of national development.

Activities Planned for Maharashtra Leg

On April 15, the second part of President Murmu’s visit will take her to Maharashtra, where she is scheduled to attend the second convocation ceremony of AIIMS Nagpur. This event will celebrate the accomplishments of medical graduates from the institute, with a focus on enhancing the healthcare system in the region.

Additionally, the same day will see President Murmu attending the valedictory ceremony of the 78th batch of Indian Revenue Service (Income Tax) Officer Trainees at the National Academy of Direct Taxes in Nagpur. This gathering will honour the trainees’ achievements and their readiness to serve in crucial roles within India’s taxation system. The training of these officers is essential for enhancing compliance and governance in the country.

These ceremonies in Maharashtra are significant for showcasing the government’s efforts in promoting the importance of education and public administration. President Murmu’s participation underscores her role in reinforcing the government’s support for various sectors crucial to national interests.

Concluding Events in Wardha

The final day of President Murmu’s visit will take place on April 16, when she is expected to attend the sixth convocation ceremony of Mahatma Gandhi Antarrashtriya Hindi Vishwavidyalaya in Wardha. This institution focuses on promoting Hindi language and literature as well as fostering a multicultural understanding among students.

The President’s participation in this ceremony highlights the significance of educational institutions in preserving and promoting cultural heritage. It also reflects the government’s commitment to inclusive education, recognising the need for linguistic diversity in India’s academic landscape.

Earlier, on April 12, a youth delegation from Jammu and Kashmir met with President Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan. This delegation was part of the “Watan Ko Jano” programme, organised by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The initiative aims to foster national integration by exposing youths from government-run homes to various aspects of Indian culture and progress.

The programme has been noted for its role in promoting harmony and inclusivity among India’s youth, thereby contributing positively to national unity. The positive feedback from the Ministry of Home Affairs further exemplifies the impact of such initiatives on the broader societal framework.
