Internet-famous spiritual personality Abhay Singh, popularly known as “IIT Baba,” is back in the headlines, this time not for spirituality debates but for his marriage.

The couple later registered their marriage in court on February 19 and are currently living in Dharamshala, where they say they are pursuing a simple and spiritual lifestyle.

A Quiet Wedding That Went Viral

The news surfaced when Abhay returned to his hometown Jhajjar in Haryana with his wife to seek his parents’ blessings and complete documentation formalities.

His visit quickly attracted crowds outside his father’s chamber, his father, Karan Singh, is a lawyer, where locals gathered to take selfies with the viral spiritual figure.

Photos and videos of the couple soon spread across social media, triggering mixed reactions from followers who had previously seen Abhay as an ascetic figure.

Who Is Abhay Singh, the ‘IIT Baba’?

Abhay Singh’s journey to fame is far from conventional.

Born in Jhajjar, Haryana, he studied aerospace engineering at IIT Bombay, one of India’s most prestigious institutions. After graduating in 2008, he worked in the aerospace sector and later moved to Canada, where he reportedly earned around ₹3 lakh per month.

Despite financial success, Singh has said he felt something was missing in his life. During the pandemic, he returned to India and gradually distanced himself from his corporate career to pursue spirituality.

His transformation from IIT engineer to wandering spiritual seeker captured public imagination, especially after interviews during the Maha Kumbh event went viral online.

Who Is Pritika?

Pritika, Singh’s wife, is also an engineering graduate from Karnataka. According to reports, the couple met around a year ago and bonded over shared spiritual interests and their desire to promote Sanatan traditions.

She has described Abhay as a “simple, honest and sincere person.”

The couple now says they are committed to a minimalist lifestyle while working toward spiritual and educational initiatives.

Plans for a ‘Sanatan University’

Looking ahead, Abhay and Pritika say they want to combine modern education with spiritual teachings.

Their long-term vision includes creating a Sanatan-focused university, which they believe could bridge ancient Indian philosophy with contemporary knowledge systems.

Controversies and Public Reaction

Despite his popularity, Abhay Singh’s journey has not been without controversy. After becoming a public figure during the Maha Kumbh, he faced criticism following a heated TV debate and was also briefly jailed in Rajasthan in connection with a narcotics case.

News of his marriage has sparked debate online. While some users congratulated the couple, others reacted humorously, pointing out the irony of a spiritual figure who once spoke about detachment now embracing married life.

Still, Abhay Singh insists that marriage does not contradict his spiritual path, and says he remains committed to meditation, spirituality and social work.
