BRS Condemns Attack on KCR’s Office, Accuses CM Revanth Reddy

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) condemned the recent assault on the camp office of its President and Leader of Opposition, K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), in Gajwel. This brazen act of vandalism occurred on April 5, 2025, and has since elicited strong reactions from various party members. They allege that the attack was orchestrated by the current Chief Minister, Revanth Reddy.

BRS Member of Legislative Council (MLC) Dasoju Sravan asserted that this incident reflects a profound conspiracy against KCR, emphasising that if a former Chief Minister can be targeted, the safety of ordinary citizens in Telangana is precarious. The severity of the assault has raised alarms about the broader implications for public safety in the region.

Sravan further accused Revanth Reddy of inciting violence and transforming verbal confrontations into physical assaults. His remarks highlight a growing concern regarding the security and well-being of opposition leaders within the state’s political landscape.

Party’s Call for Action

The BRS leadership has issued a call for a comprehensive investigation into the incident, demanding the arrest of those involved under serious charges, including attempted murder. They believe that such actions are emblematic of a larger conspiracy aimed at undermining KCR’s position and influence within Telangana.

Ravula Sridhar Reddy, another BRS leader, labelled this act as a manifestation of “hooliganism” and expressed dismay over the deteriorating law and order situation in the state. Reddy pointed out that the attack raises significant concerns regarding the ability of authorities to maintain security, especially for opposition leaders who play a critical role in democracy.

These sentiments underline the party’s view that violence against political leaders jeopardises not just those in positions of power but also the general populace. The BRS is adamant that such violence has no place in a democratic society.

Concerns Over Governance

Reddy further accused the Congress-led government of systematically targeting opposition leaders and activists who question their governance practices. He cited instances where BRS leaders and social activists have faced legal challenges merely for raising concerns about the current administration’s actions.

The BRS insists that a robust response from law enforcement is necessary to address this escalating trend of violence and intimidation. They are calling upon the state’s Director General of Police (DGP) to take decisive action against those responsible for the assault and to reassure the public about their safety.

The urgency of the response from the BRS leaders underscores their commitment to ensuring a secure political environment in Telangana. They are poised to advocate for accountability and justice in light of these recent events, aiming to uphold the democratic values that they believe are under threat.
