IPL 2026: Ashok Sharma Delivers Fastest Ball of IPL 2026 Against Rajasthan Royals

The CSR Journal Magazine

In a remarkable display of speed, Ashok Sharma, a pace bowler for the Gujarat Titans, clocked the fastest delivery of the IPL 2026 season during a match against Rajasthan Royals on April 4 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The young cricketer, only 23 years old, showcased his impressive talent by constantly troubling the Royals’ batsmen with his swift deliveries.

Sharma achieved this milestone with a scorching yorker measured at 154.2 kmph, bowled to wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel during the final delivery of the 16th over. His record-breaking pace surpassed the previous fastest ball of the tournament, which was 150.9 kmph by Anrich Nortje. Throughout his bowling spell, Sharma maintained high speeds, notably breaching the 145 kmph mark consistently and reaching 150 kmph twice within the same over.

His inclusion in the IPL was secured following an impressive run in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he emerged as Rajasthan’s top wicket-taker. Demonstrating confidence in his abilities, the Gujarat Titans selected him for the playing XI early in the season, and he has continued to deliver commendable performances.

In the match, Sharma claimed one wicket by dismissing Shimron Hetmyer, who scored 18 runs. He ended his four-over spell with figures of 1 for 37 runs. As the game unfolded, Rajasthan Royals, led by significant contributions from Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel, set a challenging target of 210 runs for the Titans, concluding their innings at 210/6. Jaiswal made a significant impact with his 55 runs from 36 balls, which included three sixes and six fours, while Jurel amassed an impressive 75 runs off 42 balls, featuring five fours and five sixes.

For Gujarat, Kagiso Rabada was particularly effective, taking two wickets for 42 runs. Additionally, bowlers Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Ashok Sharma, and stand-in captain Rashid Khan picked up one wicket each. At the moment, Gujarat Titans are positioned at 107 for 2 in 10.4 overs, needing 104 more runs to achieve the target of 211 runs set by Rajasthan Royals.
