An earthquake of 6.2 magnitude struck the Andaman & Nicobar Islands on Tuesday morning, according to the National Centre for Seismology. As per official data, the tremor was felt around 12:11 am and occurred at a depth of 10 kilometres.
As of now, there are no reports of any injuries or property damage. A similar jolt was felt on Friday at around 6:44 pm in the Andaman Sea at the same depth, but with a lower intensity of 4.9.
Another earthquake of magnitude 3.5 was recorded at 6:36 pm on Monday in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tirap district. Prior to that, on July 21, a tremor of 3.4 magnitude was felt in the Upper Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh.
Earthquakes have been occurring almost daily across the globe. On July 20, a 7.4-magnitude quake was recorded in Russia’s Kamchatka region at a depth of 10 kilometres. The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) and Germany’s GFZ both reported the quake at 7.4 magnitude. In Hawaii, a tsunami warning was initially issued by the U.S. National Tsunami Warning Center but was later cancelled.
