Yogi Government Pushes Skill Development in Mission Mode to Empower Youth

In a significant move the Yogi Adityanath-led government in Uttar Pradesh is on a mission to empower youth. This initiative will be carried out through skill development and training. The initiative aims to boost the state’s economy to $1 trillion. According to the UP government it will be focused on quality training, and seeks to expand access to skill development schemes for more young people across the state.

Modern technology in training

According to reports, the plan includes combining local needs with modern technology in training programs. In addition, the government is working with industrial training institutes and the Skill Development Mission. This mission aims to launch job-oriented courses that will help young people find employment more easily and feasibly.

Review Meeting

Minister of State for Vocational Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship (Independent Charge), Kapil Dev Agarwal, held a review meeting on Wednesday. The meeting was conducted with the representatives from Deloitte India at the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission office in Lucknow. The meeting focused on the current progress of skill development schemes and the future direction of these initiatives.

He directed that regular meetings with Deloitte India be held to prepare a progress report for the next two years. He also emphasized ensuring that the skill development schemes, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, benefit as many youths as possible.

Quality training to the youth

The Minister further instructed officials to provide quality training to youth, ensuring they do not have to wander in search of employment. He stated that promoting apprenticeships is a government priority. To this end, continuous communication with various institutions should be maintained, and more opportunities should be provided to the youth.

He also directed that the schemes be reviewed based on students’ feedback, including random calls and field inspections to engage with students directly.

Skill Mitra portal

He suggested organizing programs and meetings at the divisional level to speed up the effective implementation of schemes. In this regard, data of trained youth, including their trade and mobile numbers, should be recorded on the Skill Mitra portal to monitor the schemes and assess their effectiveness.

During the meeting, some trained youth were contacted via phone, and positive feedback was received about the schemes. The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Dr. Hariom, Mission Director Pulkit Khare, and other departmental officers.
