What Is the Under the Hood Tool?

The Under the Hood tool was first launched by X in August 2026. It forms part of the platform’s broader initiative to enhance transparency. Initially introduced on August 13, this feature allows users to obtain reports detailing labels applied to their accounts and posts over the preceding month. The recent update enhances this original function by incorporating data on visibility limitations linked to compliance with local laws.

Users can easily access the tool through the website or the mobile application. For web users, the URL is “https:x.com/under_the_hood,” while mobile users can navigate through their profile icon, select “Settings and privacy,” choose “Your account,” and find “Under the Hood.” Specific criteria must be met to download the report, including having an account that is at least one year old and having published at least 10 posts in the previous month.

The report, which eligible users can download in a machine-readable JSON format, will contain comprehensive insights into any visibility restrictions imposed on their content. This data can be further interpreted with the help of suitable software or AI tools.
