On the first Monday Night Raw of September, the General Manager Adam Pearce talked about the future of the Women’s World Championship and disclosed that Iyo Sky and Stephanie Vaquer will have a face-off for the championship title at the upcoming event Wrestlepalooza, which is scheduled for September 20 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. This match now seems uncertain.

Stephanie Vaquer was missing

Even Pearce declared that the two fighters will meet on the September 8 show and sign a contract for the Women’s Championship. However, to fans’ disappointment, Pearce gave an update to Iyo Sky that Stephanie Vaquer hasn’t come for the contract signing and hence the contract signing is cancelled. On hearing this, when Sky inquired if her match was on, no direct answer was received; rather, Pearce said, “I didn’t see why Vaquer couldn’t compete,” and left. This backstage conversation between Pearce and Sky left the championship in jeopardy.

Currently, there is no official announcement by WWE, leaving fans of the Women’s Championship confused.

Had a match in Clash in Paris event

Vaquer had won the Women’s World Championship by winning a battle royal at Evolution, and she was at first all set to challenge for this title at the Clash in Paris event, but her match that was scheduled against Naomi was suddenly called off, as Naomi left the spot after announcing her pregnancy.

A disappointed Vaquer was assured by Pearce that she will still compete and Sky will be her opponent at Wrestlepalooza, because Sky was also having a match with Naomi before she vacated her position.

Stephanie’s NXT appearance

While Vaquer was missing from Raw, she suddenly appeared on the latest episode of NXT to lock horns with Jacy Jayne, NXT Women’s Champion. As per insiders, this move is considered a strategic move to reinsert Vaquer and start a conversation for Wrestlepalooza championship pursuit. One insider shared that, “Stephanie’s NXT appearance was part of a larger creative plan to blur the lines between brands and elevate the women’s division across the board.”
