A woman in New Delhi has reported an incident of alleged molestation by an Uber driver during a late-night motorcycle ride in the capital. The incident reportedly occurred at approximately 1:28 a.m. on March 12, as the woman booked her ride from Rohini Sector 15 to the MP Block market in Pitampura via the ride-hailing platform. The driver, identified as “Sachin” on the app, picked her up to commence the journey as planned.
According to the woman’s complaint, soon after the ride began, the driver is said to have engaged in inappropriate behavior, making repeated unwelcome physical contact. When she protested against his actions, the driver allegedly increased the bike’s speed and applied sudden brakes, heightening her anxiety throughout the ride.
As the situation intensified, the woman requested that the driver stop the vehicle. Rather than complying, she claims that he grabbed her from behind and molested her, threatening to kill her if she attempted to raise an alarm. Additionally, the victim alleged that the driver deviated from the designated route indicated in the application, further escalating her distress.
In an effort to safeguard herself, the woman began shouting loudly and made threats to jump off the moving motorcycle. Following this, the driver reportedly stopped near Sarvodaya Vidyalaya in the F-U Block area of Pitampura, where he dropped her off and subsequently fled the scene.
As of now, no formal complaint has been registered, but authorities have acknowledged receipt of the woman’s allegations and are currently looking into the matter. Investigations are ongoing to ascertain the facts surrounding the incident.
