The Government of Uttarakhand has received a substantial financial allocation as part of the Centre’s initiative known as “Pride of Hills.” The release confirms that ₹3,400 crore has been allocated specifically for the financial year 2026-27 under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) guidelines. This allocation is designed to bolster development efforts in hill states, enabling them to grow more rapidly and enhance the living conditions for their residents.

Focus on Infrastructure Development

The newly introduced “Pride of Hills” scheme aims to support hill states with additional financial assistance aimed at stimulating their economic and infrastructure development. For Uttarakhand, this financial support is expected to notably accelerate progress in various sectors across the state. Alongside the ₹3,400 crore allocation, the state will also benefit from ₹765 crore in untied funds. This additional funding will allow Uttarakhand’s government to prioritize and execute projects based on its specific developmental needs.

Chief Minister Expresses Gratitude

Uttarakhand’s Chief Minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami, expressed appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the central government’s substantial financial support. The Chief Minister cited that this assistance plays a crucial role in enabling Uttarakhand to achieve new heights in its developmental trajectory. He emphasized the impact of the Centre’s continuous backing in facilitating the state’s growth.

Investment in Sports Infrastructure

In addition to economic development, Chief Minister Dhami highlighted the state’s investments in sports infrastructure. He announced the completion of over 102 mini stadiums and 157 playgrounds, asserting that these facilities are part of a broader strategy to promote sports among the youth of Uttarakhand. In a statement made via social media, he noted that the establishment of multi-purpose halls and sport-oriented amenities aims to create better opportunities for young talent in the state.

Promoting a Culture of Sports

Chief Minister Dhami emphasized that the expansion of such infrastructure is not merely about building facilities but serves to inspire and realize the aspirations of Uttarakhand’s youth. He remarked that these initiatives are vital in cultivating a robust sports culture in rural areas, leading to recognition and success for athletes on both national and international platforms. The focus on developing sports facilities is seen as a critical component in nurturing local talent and enhancing competitive performance.
