Uttarakhand Cabinet Expansion to Include Five New Ministers

The CSR Journal Magazine

The much-anticipated expansion of the Uttarakhand cabinet, overseen by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, is set to occur today at Lok Bhavan in Dehradun. The swearing-in ceremony will take place with the Chief Minister present, and Uttarakhand Governor Gurmeet Singh will administer the oath of office to five new ministers.

This expansion is particularly notable as five ministerial positions have been vacant within the state cabinet for some time. Sources have indicated that evaluations of the performance records of various MLAs have been conducted to identify suitable candidates for induction into these roles. Additionally, it is anticipated that over two dozen party leaders may be appointed as “Daitvadhari,” a designation akin to Ministers of State.

Multiple rounds of discussions regarding the cabinet expansion have been held with the national leadership of the party. Chief Minister Dhami and Uttarakhand BJP president Mahendra Bhatt have previously alluded to an impending cabinet reshuffle, further fueling speculation around this long-awaited expansion.

Health Update on Uttarakhand Tourism Minister

In a related development, Chief Minister Dhami visited AIIMS Rishikesh on Thursday to check on the health of Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj. Maharaj had been admitted to the ICU following a recent deterioration in his health. Medical Superintendent at AIIMS Rishikesh, Satya Sree Balicha, provided updates, stating that Maharaj is now stable. Balicha confirmed that although his health had declined briefly, he is currently doing well, with normal and stable vital signs.
