Uttar Pradesh Groom Experiences Power Cut Before Wedding Procession

The CSR Journal Magazine

Incident Occurs in Bijnor District

A wedding celebration in Bijnor district, Uttar Pradesh, turned unexpectedly challenging when the electricity supply was reportedly cut without notification, just hours before the groom’s baraat was scheduled to leave. The incident unfolded in Diamond Colony, Noorpur, at the residence of Shubham Chauhan on the evening of February 19. With the atmosphere filled with music and brightly lit decorations, the family was in high spirits as relatives gathered for the occasion.

Unannounced Disconnection Disrupts Celebrations

As the wedding festivities reached a crescendo, an employee from the electricity department reportedly appeared at the scene and climbed the pole outside to disconnect the power supply. Witnesses from the family assert that no prior notification was given, nor was any explanation provided at the time of the disconnection. The sudden loss of electricity was particularly disheartening given the timing, as the baraat was about to commence.

Groom Raises Concerns Over Power Cut

Shubham Chauhan, dressed and prepared for his wedding, expressed his dismay over the abrupt power outage. He highlighted that all electricity dues had been cleared and that a valid meter was installed at their residence. Chauhan questioned the rationale behind cutting the connection at such a critical moment, emphasizing that no grace period or clarification was offered, despite the presence of numerous guests and ongoing wedding rituals.

Family Voiced Embarrassment and Frustration

The unexpected blackout rendered decorations ineffective and silenced the music system, causing significant embarrassment for the family among their guests. Chauhan articulated his intention to file a formal complaint with senior officials of the electricity department, attributing the incident to negligence on their part.

Official Response to the Incident

In response to the occurrence, Superintendent Engineer Dharamraj Singh stated that he was initially unaware of the matter. He assured that an investigation would be conducted to determine the facts surrounding the incident. Singh indicated that if negligence or improper conduct is discovered, appropriate actions will be taken against the responsible parties.

Local Reactions and Discussions

The power cut incident has sparked local discussions, as well as conversations on social media platforms, with many individuals voicing concern regarding the timing of the disconnection and the standard procedures that should be followed in similar scenarios. The situation has raised awareness about the challenges associated with timely communication from utility service providers, especially during significant events like weddings.
