In a significant achievement, all eight districts of Uttar Pradesh have demonstrated remarkable performance. The performance was made in the Central Government’s financial inclusion schemes under the leadership of CM Yogi Adityanath. Fatehpur district emerged as the top performer in the country’s 112 aspirational districts in the Atal Pension Yojana.
Uttar Pradesh’s aspirational districts
According to a recent report by the State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC), presented the Uttar Pradesh’s aspirational districts. This includes, Fatehpur, Bahraich, Shravasti, Balrampur, Siddharthnagar, Chitrakoot, Chandauli, and Sonbhadra.
All these districts have outperformed expectations in the implementation of key social security schemes. These schemes include the Atal Pension Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana.
Atal Pension Yojana
In the financial year 2023–24, Fatehpur achieved 376% of its enrollment target in the Atal Pension Yojana, registering 10,850 enrollments against the target of 2,886. This exceptional performance has secured Fatehpur the first rank nationally among aspirational districts.
Similarly, Chitrakoot achieved 259% of its target with 7,468 enrollments, while Chandauli and Siddharthnagar enrolled 5,658 and 5,308 beneficiaries respectively, surpassing their assigned targets.
Districts performed better than expected
Along with Atal Pension Yojana, all of Uttar Pradesh’s aspirational districts have performed better than expected in the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana.
In 2023–24, Bahraich district enrolled 17,560 people under the PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana against a target of 9,772—achieving 180% of the goal, the highest among the state’s aspirational districts. In fact, all aspirational districts in the state surpassed their enrollment targets under this scheme.
PM Suraksha Bima Yojana
Similarly, under the PM Suraksha Bima Yojana, Chitrakoot and Fatehpur districts registered 42,439 and 40,996 enrollments respectively, against the target of 30,303. This represents 140% and 135% of the target, showing strong performance by both districts.
