UP Launches ‘Hunar Haath’ to Train Youth in Domestic Services with Digital Job Portal

In an innovative initiative aimed at making youth self-reliant, the Yogi Government of Uttar Pradesh will soon launch the ‘Hunar Haath’ pilot project across five districts. The initiative, led by the Department of Vocational Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship, aims to train young people in various domestic services, providing them with viable job opportunities while making trusted services available to the public.

‘Hunar Haath’ scheme

Under the ‘Hunar Haath’ scheme, selected candidates will be trained in cooking, house cleaning, caregiving, and maintenance of household appliances. The training will be offered in both residential and non‑residential formats, implemented in partnership with government and private training institutes.

Once trained, the youth will be connected to a digital portal, making it easy for citizens to access their services and creating a strong link between skill development and everyday household needs.

Special platform to train young

Additional Mission Director Priya Singh gave a detailed presentation about the ambitious ‘Hunar Haath’ pilot project to Dr. Hariom, the Principal Secretary of the Department of Vocational Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship.

Priya Singh explained that through ‘Hunar Haath’, a special platform will be created where trained young people can offer household services. This will make it easy for people to find skilled and trusted service providers.

Trained as domestic helpers

She mentioned that in its first phase, the scheme will be launched in five districts. Young people selected for this program will be trained as domestic helpers. They will learn cooking, house cleaning, caregiving, basic household appliance maintenance, and other household-related skills.

The training will be offered both as residential and non‑residential programs, in collaboration with public and private training partners.

Job‑oriented training

Mission Director Pulkit Khare said that ‘Hunar Haath’ will not only give young people job‑oriented training but will also create a trusted service network for everyday household needs. He added that the details of trained candidates will be uploaded to a central ‘Hunar Haath’ portal, making it easy for people to hire these trained youth for their needs.

During the meeting, Principal Secretary Dr. Hariom instructed that a digital database of trained candidates be created and their services be clearly classified on the portal for easy access.
