The Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, aimed at enhancing the empowerment and self-reliance of persons with disabilities, will be marked by the distribution of 500 specially designed electric scooters in Faridabad on September 17, 2026. Union Minister of State Krishan Pal Gurjar will oversee this significant event in honour of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday. The initiative targets divyang beneficiaries aged between fifteen and fifty, particularly students and young individuals, to assist them in overcoming mobility challenges.

The electric scooters, specifically crafted for users with disabilities by the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), are equipped with unique features and modifications intended to ensure user safety and convenience. This provision aims to enhance the recipients’ access to education, employment opportunities, and everyday activities.

Gurjar emphasised that this initiative not only aligns with Prime Minister Modi’s vision of service and grassroots empowerment but also seeks to foster dignity and independence among beneficiaries. He noted that the distribution aims to address various mobility needs of divyang individuals effectively.

Significance of the Event

According to the organisers, this mass distribution of electric scooters represents a pioneering effort in the nation’s history. The programme aspires to elevate the quality of life for the selected beneficiaries by providing essential mobility solutions that facilitate easier access to numerous aspects of daily living. This initiative reflects a broader commitment to inclusivity and support for persons with disabilities across India.

The event will take place at Rudra Banquet on Mathura Road, where Gurjar will personally hand over the scooters to the chosen beneficiaries. This intimate yet impactful ceremony underscores the government’s dedication to improving the lives of those with disabilities in society.

Furthermore, the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ encompasses a range of other public service and welfare activities within the Faridabad Lok Sabha constituency throughout September, indicating an extensive outreach effort aimed at supporting various community needs.

Comments by Union Minister Gurjar

During his remarks, Gurjar expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve the divyang community on such a significant occasion. He reiterated the commitment to the ideals of “Seva” (service) and “Sankalp” (determination), which guide the Prime Minister’s philosophy. He mentioned that the principle of ‘Jan Seva hi Prabhu Seva’ serves as the organisation’s core ethos and motivates their initiatives.

Gurjar articulated that the initiative seeks not merely to provide electric scooters but also to enhance the overall quality of life for those it serves. The focus on mobility, independence, and dignity is crucial for the divyang community as they navigate societal challenges.

As this initiative unfolds, it aims to set a precedent for similar programmes across the country, potentially inspiring other regions to initiate comparable efforts in supporting persons with disabilities. Through these actions, the government hopes to realise a more inclusive environment where all individuals have the opportunity to thrive.
