Objectives of the UK Education Hub

With over 78 years of promoting educational cooperation between the UK and India, the British Council has established the UK Education Hub to fulfill the mutual educational goals outlined in the India-UK Vision 2035. This initiative aims to facilitate engagement, collaboration, and alignment with India’s National Education Policy as well as the UK’s International Education Strategy through a unified and organized platform.

Statements from the Deputy Prime Minister

During the launch, David Lammy emphasized the importance of investing in the next generation to foster a better future. He stated that expanding access to education is fundamental for creating lasting change. Lammy highlighted that the UK Education Hub in New Delhi aims to strengthen partnerships with India by uniting governments, universities, and institutions. He expressed this collaboration would catalyze innovation and stimulate economic growth, reflecting a shared ambition to actualize the UK-India Vision 2035.

Administration and Responsibilities of the Hub

The UK Education Hub will oversee the Annual Ministerial India-UK Education Dialogue, focusing on achieving the educational targets set by the India-UK Vision 2035. The Hub will serve as a cooperative platform for structured interactions between UK universities and Indian governmental entities, regulatory bodies, and sector organizations. This engagement is designed to enable a seamless transfer of information and foster a robust partnership in the educational sectors of both countries.

Program Initiatives and Future Engagements

In addition to its primary functions, the UK Education Hub will coordinate the delivery of the Annual Ministerial India-UK Education Dialogue, consolidate requests for assistance from UK universities looking to establish ties in India, and manage the UK Universities in India Members Programme. The initiative is set to support the mutual recognition of qualifications and facilitate various educational and skills missions between the two nations, thus enhancing interactions and opportunities in the education system.

Long-term Vision for Collaboration

The establishment of the UK Education Hub is a step towards strengthening ties between India and the UK in areas of education, research, and skills development. By providing a single, coordinated interface for engagement, the Hub aims to reinforce the shared objectives of both countries, promoting inclusive and sustainable growth while fostering deeper connections between their people.
