The Indian tennis team kicked off their campaign on a high note during the first round of qualifying at the ITF W35 tournament held at the Chandrashekhar Patil Stadium in Kalaburagi, Karnataka, on March 1. A total of 12 Indian players advanced to the next round, demonstrating the talent and competitiveness of local players in the region. The event showcased a series of impressive matches as the players competed against both local and international competitors.

Among the notable performances, the 11th seed, Vanshita Pathania, registered a convincing victory over Arunkumar Lakshmi Prabha with a score of 6-3, 6-1. In another match, the top seed Maria Mikhailova eliminated Chandana Potugari with a score of 6-2, 6-1. The second seed, Eva Marie Desvignes from Singapore, also advanced smoothly, defeating wildcard player Omna Yadav Davunaboina 6-1, 6-3. As the day progressed, Indian players began to gain momentum, showcasing their abilities on the court.

Saumya Ronde achieved a notable upset by defeating the 15th seed Disha Behera with a score of 7-5, 6-4. Sixteenth seed Sreemanya Reddy Anugonda showed considerable resilience, managing to turn around her match against Sanjana Sirimalla, winning 3-6, 6-4, 10-6. Additionally, 13th seed Mahika Khanna breezed past wildcard Hridayeshi Pai with a score of 6-1, 6-3. Wildcard Snigdha Kanta impressed by defeating sixth seed Elsa Wan of Malaysia 6-1, 5-7, 10-3, showcasing the determination of the Indian contingent throughout the day.

Ninth seed Sandeepthi Singh Rao moved on with a 7-5, 6-2 victory against Saily Prashantkumar Thakkar, while tenth seed Yashasvini Panwar secured a steady 6-4, 6-4 win against Aakruti Sonkusare Narayan Sonkusare. The day concluded with eighth seed Bela Tamhankar and 14th seed Laxmisiri Dandu both securing their places in the next round with straight-set victories over Jigyasa Narsinghani and Jeetesh Kumari respectively.
