Thick Fog Triggers Red Alerts Across UAE, Caution Advised for Motorists

The CSR Journal Magazine

Dense fog enveloped various regions of the UAE early on Tuesday, causing significant disruptions to the morning commute. In response, the National Centre of Meteorology issued red and yellow alerts, indicating that visibility had considerably decreased and could potentially worsen until 9 am. The advisory was applicable to numerous coastal and inland areas, where conditions were anticipated to change during the early hours.

Traffic Safety Measures Implemented

As fog settled in during peak travel times, concerns regarding motorist safety surged, particularly on major routes. Authorities cautioned that visibility could rapidly decline, raising the likelihood of accidents if drivers did not adjust their speed and maintain safe following distances. In Dubai, the Roads and Transport Authority urged drivers to adhere to fog safety guidelines. Digital signboards throughout the city reminded residents of the situation as traffic volume increased during the busy morning hours.

In Abu Dhabi, residents received direct warnings on their mobile devices, which notified them that speed limits had been lowered on multiple roads due to the dense fog. This served as a reminder for drivers to exercise extra caution while navigating the affected areas.

Weather Conditions Expected to Remain Mild

Weather forecasts indicate that humidity will remain high during the night and into the morning of Wednesday. Despite the foggy conditions, daytime temperatures across most of the UAE are expected to stay relatively comfortable. Notably, both Abu Dhabi and Dubai are projected to reach highs of 29°C, with nighttime temperatures dropping to around 18°C. Sharjah is also expected to record a high of 29°C, while overnight temperatures may fall to 15°C.

Across the UAE, temperature variations are expected, with the lowest readings around 8°C in Jebel Jais. In contrast, the Liwa region of Abu Dhabi may see temperatures climb as high as 32°C.

Wind and Sea Conditions

Forecasting indicates that light to moderate south-westerly winds will shift to a north-easterly direction. Wind speeds are expected to range between 10 and 20 km/h, with gusts potentially reaching up to 30 km/h at times. Sea conditions are anticipated to be moderate to slight in the Arabian Gulf and slight in the Oman Sea, according to the latest weather reports.

Authorities continue to emphasise the importance of vigilance during the early morning hours, advising residents to stay updated as the weather conditions evolve.
