Six Suspected Terror Associates Arrested in Two Shopian Operations

The CSR Journal Magazine

Jammu and Kashmir Police, in coordination with the Army and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), arrested six individuals allegedly linked to terror networks during two separate operations in Shopian district, officials said.

The operations were conducted in the Heerpora and Imamsahib areas as part of intensified efforts to identify and disrupt suspected terrorist support networks in the region.

Three Arrested During Heerpora Checking

The first operation was carried out in the Heerpora area, where police teams were conducting naka checking. During the operation, security personnel stopped a motorcycle and detained three people identified as Junaid Muzaffar Dar, Aamir Yousaf and Junaid Bashir Dar, all residents of Kulgam.

According to officials, security forces recovered two hand grenades and several posters described as incriminating material from the suspects.

Following the arrests and recovery, a case was registered at the Heerpora Police Station under relevant provisions of law. Investigators are now examining the circumstances surrounding the alleged possession of the material and the possible activities of the accused.

Three More Held in Imamsahib Operation

In a separate operation in the Imamsahib area, joint patrols involving Shopian Police, the 34 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and the 178 Battalion CRPF resulted in the arrest of three additional individuals.

The arrested persons were identified as Haris Manzoor, Ashiq Hussain and Arif Ahmad Kumar, all residents of Anantnag.

Officials said a search of the three individuals led to the recovery of one hand grenade, two AK-47 magazines and 20 rounds of ammunition, along with other material described as incriminating.

A separate FIR has been registered at the Imamsahib Police Station in connection with the recovery. Authorities are investigating the circumstances under which the alleged weapons and ammunition were obtained and whether the suspects had any links with active terror networks.

Probe Underway Into Possible Terror Links

Investigations into both cases are currently underway. Security agencies are examining the backgrounds and activities of the arrested individuals and are expected to investigate whether the two cases are connected or linked to wider terror networks operating in the region.

Authorities are also looking into the possible role of other individuals and organisations as part of the ongoing investigations.

Security Forces Step Up Operations

The arrests come amid continued efforts by security agencies in Jammu and Kashmir to disrupt terrorist networks and prevent the movement of weapons and other materials.

Police said coordinated operations involving the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army and CRPF remain focused on maintaining security and preventing attempts to support or strengthen terror activities. Further details are expected as investigators make progress in the two cases.
