SIA Kashmir has initiated searches at nine locations throughout Jammu and Kashmir in relation to a double murder case from 1990. This case involves the abduction and subsequent killing of Kashmiri Pandit writer Sarwanand Koul Premi and his son, Virender Koul. They hailed from Soaf Shali in Kokernag, Anantnag, and their tragic fate has been a focal point of ongoing investigations.

The case was originally filed at the Police Station Dooru in Anantnag and has since transitioned to the oversight of the SIA. This recent action signifies an escalated phase in the investigation as authorities aim to piece together crucial details surrounding the murders.

On April 29, 1990, armed militants reportedly abducted Sarwanand Koul Premi and his 27-year-old son from their home. Their bodies were discovered hanging from a tree two days later, on May 1, 1990. The brutality of these events has left a lasting impact on the local community.

The searches conducted by the SIA represent a critical step forward in resolving the long-standing case. During a search in the Hiller Shahabad area of Anantnag, a CIK team managed to confiscate two digital devices. These seizures are part of a broader investigation under FIR No. 03/2023, registered at the Police Station CIK Kashmir under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
