Security Forces Engage in Encounter with Terrorists in Kishtwar

The CSR Journal Magazine

An encounter has commenced between security forces and terrorists in the Chatroo area of Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir, as confirmed by local police on Sunday, February 22. Details regarding the encounter are still forthcoming, with authorities working to assess the situation on the ground.

In a related effort to curb terrorism in the region, police in Budgam have taken proactive measures against individuals involved in terrorist activities and their support systems. Authorities seized immovable property linked to Ghulam Nabi Najar, a member associated with Jammu and Kashmir National Liberation Front (JKNOP), as part of an ongoing investigation. The property, which spans an area of 01 Kanal and 16 Marlas, is located in the village of Gamgulla Khansahib and has been identified under Khasra No. 796, Khewat No. 144, and Khata No. 439.

Action executed under Section 85 of BNSS

This action was executed under Section 85 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) after fulfilling all requisite legal procedures. This significant move marks a continued escalation in efforts to dismantle terror-linked networks operating within the area. An official statement from the Budgam Police emphasized that these efforts serve as a clear message to those engaging in anti-national and unlawful activities that they risk not only criminal prosecution but also the loss of their assets which support such operations.

Previously, Budgam Police initiated a broader campaign across the district to disrupt the activities of Jammu and Kashmir residents who are believed to be collaborating with operatives from Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. This initiative aims to dismantle the support structures that sustain terrorism within Jammu and Kashmir.

Law enforcement has taken stringent action against several relatives and associates of active JKNOP members, arresting them under relevant legal statutes for their ongoing involvement in anti-national activities. These activities include providing logistical support, disseminating propaganda, and facilitating recruitment for terrorist groups.

In addition, police operations have resulted in the seizure of digital devices and other incriminating materials during targeted raids. The Budgam Police reiterated its commitment to ensuring peace and security in the district, indicating that operations against terrorist networks and their support structures will endure until they are entirely dismantled.
