Reliance, TCS, and Infosys Among India’s Most Valuable Companies in 2024
Hurun India has released its rankings of the country’s top 10 most valuable companies, with Reliance Industries leading the pack. The list also includes three major technology firms and one telecom giant. Notably, the combined market value of these top 10 firms surpasses the GDP of Saudi Arabia.
According to the 2024 Burgundy Private Hurun India 500 list, the total valuation of these companies has surged by Rs 22.7 lakh crore, reaching an astonishing Rs 96 lakh crore—nearly one-third of India’s GDP.
Reliance Industries, under the leadership of Mukesh Ambani, secured the top position with a market value of Rs 17,52,650 crore. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), headed by K. Krithivasan, closely followed with a valuation of Rs 16,10,800 crore. Among the top gainers, Bharti Airtel, led by Gopal Vittal, witnessed the most substantial increase in absolute terms, adding over Rs 4 lakh crore to its market capitalisation in 2024.
Technology Firms Feature Prominently
TCS claimed the second position on the list with a market capitalisation of Rs 16,10,800 crore, reflecting a 30% year-on-year increase. Infosys, ranking sixth, recorded a valuation of Rs 7,99,400 crore, marking a 40% rise. HCL Technologies secured the ninth spot with a market valuation of Rs 5,18,170 crore, demonstrating a 51% annual increase.
“The companies listed in the 2024 Burgundy Private Hurun India 500 form the backbone of India’s private sector, exerting significant economic influence. Collectively, they hold a valuation of $3.8 trillion, surpassing India’s annual GDP, and employ 8.4 million people,” stated Anas Rahman Junaid, founder and chief researcher at Hurun India.
“If one wishes to understand the trajectory of the Indian economy, examining the narratives behind the 2024 Burgundy Private Hurun India 500 and India’s most valuable companies is an excellent starting point,” Junaid added.
