Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will start his election campaign in Bihar by offering prayers with the famous Tarachandi Shaktipeeth of Sasaram from 14 August. The yatra will run till August 30 and will cover about 90% of the districts. Rahul’s ‘Halla Bol’ campaign is also a strategy to question the policies of NDA and the neutrality of the Election Commission, as well as a strategy to make inroads in the Hindu vote bank.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah started promoting the NDA by laying the temple at Punaura Dham in Sitamarhi. On the same lines, Rahul Gandhi will also start his journey after worshiping from Tarachandi temple. Political analysts believe that this step is an attempt to help 80% of the majority Hindu population.
“Halla Bol” on SIR agenda
Rahul Gandhi’s main focus will be on SIR – Constitution, Infrastructure, Employment. The Congress alleges that the NDA government has pushed Bihar back on these three fronts. Especially they will tell the public facts by calling special voter revision (SIR) a conspiracy against the opposition.
Try to get lost footings back
After disappointing performance in the last elections, the Congress is now taking an aggressive stand to strengthen its presence in Bihar. The Modi-Shah duo is already in the fray and by bringing Rahul to the frontfoot, the party is trying to get a lose mass base. Since 1990, the Congress is doing politics in Bihar with the help of RJD, but this time it wants to establish an impact on its own.
The Congress has suffered defeat in Delhi, Haryana and Maharashtra before the assembly elections in Bihar. Although the India alliance won in Jammu and Kashmir and Jharkhand, the Congress was a junior partner there. This journey of Rahul Gandhi is not only campaigning for the Congress, but also a mission to find political life.
In this padyatra to be held in three phases, Rahul Gandhi will communicate directly with the public, will enthusiasm among the workers and will showcase the power of the opposition in association with the Maha Gathbandhan.
