Acclaimed athlete and Member of Parliament PT Usha’s husband V Srinivasan, passed away this morning aged 67. This morning while sitting at home, V Srinivasan collapsed all of a sudden, he was rushed to a hospital nearby, but by then he was dead. Who was Srinivasan?
Srinivasan was a former central government employee, he has been beside Usha all through his life, be it Usha’s career in Olympic or be it leadership in sports administration and even while she was entering politics as Rajya Sabha MP, he was always there as rock solid, motivating her. Usha and Srinivasan have a son named Ujjwal Vignesh. Srinivasan roots are from Vengali tharavad in Kuttikkad, Ponnani. He comes from a family that has been in service to the nation, his father Narayanan was a retired DSP with the CISF. In 1991, he married Usha, a distant relative. Srinivasan’s friends and colleagues called him a motivator and anchor, who always stood by Usha in her achievement quietly.
Just like Usha, Srinivasan was also associated with sports, he was a kabaddi player in his younger years. Over the years he played a major role in establishing and managing Usha School of Athletics in Koyilandy, where next generation Indian track stars were trained. Srinivasan was the treasurer of the school. Even though Srinivasan was good at sports just like Usha, he maintained a low public profile throughout his life.
