PM Modi to Address Rally in Kolkata on March 14 Concluding BJP’s 5,000-km ‘Parivartan Yatra’

The CSR Journal Magazine

Samik Bhattacharya, President of the West Bengal Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Member of Parliament, announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver a speech at the Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata on March 14. This event is set to conclude the party’s extensive ‘Parivartan Yatra,’ a 5,000-kilometer campaign aimed at mobilizing voters ahead of the upcoming 2026 Assembly elections.

During a press conference, Bhattacharya stated, “Our Parivartan Yatra is beginning from nine key locations. Leaders from both state and central levels will participate in this effort.” He emphasized that all preparations are in full swing for the Prime Minister’s address.

Launch of Parivartan Yatra

The announcement follows comments made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the initiation of the Yatra across West Bengal. Shah highlighted that nine separate Yatras have begun, with four of them launched the previous day from cities including Siliguri, Nabadwip, Medinipur, and Purulia. According to Shah, the purpose of these Yatras is to incite change within West Bengal, directly referring to the administration led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Political Context and Objectives

During the ongoing campaign, Amit Shah addressed attendees in Mathurapur, criticizing the existing government. He articulated that ‘Parivartan’ or ‘change’ represents not only a desire to alter leadership but also to eradicate infiltration and corruption from the state. Shah asserted that this movement aims to replace the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) government with a BJP administration. He clarified, “Parivartan does not solely pertain to changing the Chief Minister; the people of Bengal will ultimately decide that.” Shah reiterated the campaign’s goal of achieving a corruption-free governance structure in West Bengal.

Extensive Campaign Logistics

As part of the Parivartan Yatra initiative, Bhattacharya indicated that the BJP intends to communicate a strong message regarding illegal immigration in the state. He claimed that the time is ripe to remove those who have allegedly benefitted from the current administration’s patronage.

The Parivartan Yatra is a substantial statewide endeavor, expected to encompass a trajectory of more than 5,000 kilometers. The campaign will feature 63 major rallies and 282 smaller gatherings, ultimately culminating in the much-anticipated rally in Kolkata addressed by the Prime Minister.

Upcoming Events and Rally Importance

The positioning of this rally at Kolkata’s Brigade Parade Ground emphasizes the BJP’s tactical focus on garnering support as they approach the 2026 Assembly elections. The significance of these efforts lies in the party’s broader strategy to consolidate power within West Bengal. The series of events and gatherings is designed to galvanize party workers and engage with the electorate on issues critical to residents of the state.
