PM Modi Calls for Grassroots Mobilization Ahead of Puducherry Elections

The CSR Journal Magazine

Puducherry [India], March 30: In a bid to strengthen the BJP’s position ahead of the forthcoming assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed party workers in Puducherry on Monday, encouraging them to enhance their grassroots outreach initiatives and convert public support into votes. During the gathering, PM Modi underscored his development vision for the Union Territory, emphasizing the “BEST” framework: Business, Education, Spirituality, and Tourism, as key pillars for progress.

Mobilization Strategy and Slogan

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of booth-level mobilization, urging workers to adopt the slogan “Mera Booth, Sabse Mazboot” in their door-to-door campaigns. He specifically instructed them to engage with every resident, asserting that voters should be informed about the stark contrasts between the Congress-DMK alliance, characterized by dynastic politics, and the BJP-NDA’s commitment to placing Puducherry and India first ahead of personal interests.

Focusing on Women and Safety Initiatives

In further efforts to rally voter support, PM Modi highlighted the need for targeted outreach to women voters. He encouraged party workers to engage them with data highlighting safety and welfare programs. The Prime Minister noted that Puducherry’s women’s crime rate stands at 25, significantly lower than the national average, stating that all reported incidents are thoroughly investigated by local authorities. He urged party workers to inform women about various welfare schemes initiated by the central government aimed at enhancing their empowerment and economic independence.

Boosting Tourism in Puducherry

The Prime Minister also addressed the significance of Puducherry’s tourism sector, stating that visitor numbers have doubled in recent years due to improved infrastructure and visa reforms. He prompted workers to converse with those whose livelihoods are tied to tourism, explaining the government’s initiatives that have made it easier for international visitors to travel to Puducherry, including visa waivers and on-arrival visa provisions. These improvements, he stated, would continue to bolster the local economy.

Support for Fisheries Sector

Emphasizing economic support for local industries, PM Modi spoke about the dedicated fisheries ministry established under the NDA government. He mentioned the introduction of benefits such as Kisan Credit Cards and assistance through the PM Matsya Sampada Yojana, stating that fishing families have seen enhanced advantages through government initiatives. This approach aligns with the government’s strategy for fostering regional economic growth.

Call for Unity Among NDA Allies

PM Modi urged unity among the NDA partners, asserting that an appealing political atmosphere must translate into actual voter turnout. He encouraged party workers to connect with every voter personally, stressing the importance of solid communication across the NDA coalition to ensure maximum electoral success. With elections scheduled for April 9 and the counting of votes on May 4, the Prime Minister reminded party members of their responsibility to secure the highest number of votes for BJP and the NDA.

Election Context in Puducherry

The current legislative assembly, comprising 30 members, is set to conclude its term on June 15. In the previous assembly elections held in 2021, the AINRC emerged as the largest party with 10 seats, followed by the DMK and BJP, both securing six seats each. The voter turnout recorded at that time was 84.8 percent, while in 2016, Congress had clinched a majority with 15 seats. The political landscape remains vital as the elections approach with heightened campaign activities expected.
