“Papa Was Killed…”: UP Boy Exposes Mother’s Affair & Murder Plot with Nephew

The CSR Journal Magazine

In a chilling incident from Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, a woman named Pooja Gautam has been arrested for orchestrating her husband’s murder with the help of an e-rickshaw driver, Kamlesh. The crime was initially disguised as a road accident, but the case cracked wide open after the couple’s young son revealed the shocking truth to the police.

The Deadly Deception

The incident occurred on October 13, after the family had returned from visiting the Deva Mela. On the way back, Pooja arranged for Kamlesh, an e-rickshaw driver she had hired earlier with a promise of ₹1 lakh, to kill her husband Hanumantlal. Near Tahirpur turn on Deva-Lucknow Road, Kamlesh attacked Hanumantlal with an iron rod, killing him on the spot. The duo then staged the scene to appear as a traffic accident.

A Child’s Innocent Confession

Pooja told police her husband had died in a road accident, but inconsistencies in her statement raised suspicions. The turning point came when police gently questioned her young son, pretending to be a friendly “uncle.” The child, unaware of the cover-up, innocently told police, “Papa was killed,” leading to a deeper investigation.

Affair with Nephew Behind the Murder

According to ASP Vikas Chandra Tripathi, Pooja had been in an illicit relationship with her own nephew, which became a source of conflict within the family. Fed up with the ongoing disputes, she decided to eliminate her husband. She met Kamlesh in Lucknow and offered him a murder-for-hire deal.

On the day of the incident, Pooja used a pretext of feeling cold to leave her husband’s motorcycle and board Kamlesh’s rickshaw. As planned, they ambushed Hanumantlal and killed him with a metal rod. After committing the crime, they returned to Lucknow, pretending nothing had happened.

Police Recover Murder Weapon and Arrest Accused

The police investigation, aided by the child’s testimony, led to the arrest of both Pooja and Kamlesh within 24 hours. The murder weapon (an iron rod), the e-rickshaw used in the crime, and their mobile phones were recovered.

The ASP described the murder as a case of betrayal and greed. The court has since sent both the accused to judicial custody.
