Nitish Kumar refers to PM Modi as Atal Vihari Bajpayee in public, rectifies himself, video viral!

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has lately been hitting the headlines more for his slip-ups and antics leaving netizens in splits. The CM whose video of placing a Lucky Bamboo pot on an IAS officer’s head recently went viral, made it to the headlines on Friday again.

In a latest gaffe, the Bihar Chief Minister publicly referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as (former Prime Minister) Atal Vihari Bajpayee while addressing the audience in Rohtas district in the PM’s presence on Friday. However, Kumar was quick to realise his mistake and in an attempt to cover up the blunder he asked the audience to give a standing ovation to PM Modi for his contributions to the nation.

Nitish Kumar criticised by opposition

The longest-serving CM has been facing accusations of being “physically and mentally unfit” following awkward behaviour in public. Opposition leaders, including Bihar CM’s key challenger and RJD MLA Tejashwi Yadav, have questioned his health and suitability to continue governing the state.

Earlier this week, political strategist and Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor took a jibe at the Bihar chief Minister, following Nitish Kumar’s absence from the recent Niti Aayog meeting. Kishor questioned the CM’s health, cognitive ability, and the political motivations behind his continued leadership. “Nitish Kumar didn’t attend the meeting as he is not physically and medically fit,” Kishor told media on Sunday.

When Nitish Kumar placed a flower pot on an IAS Officer’s head

The Bihar Chief Minister found himself in an embarrassing situation on Monday, May 26 when he placed a flower pot on the head of an IAS officer — S. Siddharth, Additional Chief Secretary, Education Department — who presented the pot to welcome him at a function in Patna.

Kumar was attending an event at the Lalit Narayan Mishra Institute of Economic Development and Social Change where he was scheduled to hand over appointment letters to 20 Assistant Professors.

When the programme started, the 1991 batch IAS officer, S. Siddharth, went ahead to welcome him and gifted a flower pot in the presence of Education Department Minister Sunil Kumar and Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Deepak Kumar. Immediately after receiving it, the chief minister put the flower pot on the IAS Officer’s head in front of the dignitaries present at the occasion. Surprised at this strange act, people present in the hall started laughing.

Nitish Kumar’s viral moments

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar has been courting controversy repeatedly over his strange behaviour in public. In January this year, a video of the chief minister went viral where he was seen clapping after paying floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on the latter’s 77th death anniversary.

In March, during the inaugural function of the SepakTakraw World Cup in Patna’s Patliputra Indoor Stadium, Nitish Kumar was seen laughing and talking to his Principal Secretary during the national anthem.
