Nashik’s Godman Ashok Kumar Kharat Faces Allegations of Sexual Abuse, Fraud, and Possible Homicide

The CSR Journal Magazine

A complaint regarding abuse within a religious leader’s premises has escalated into a complex case involving multiple allegations of sexual abuse, including rape and exploitation, of numerous women disguised as rituals. Maharashtra’s Ashok Kumar Kharat, a self-styled godman, is now entangled in several legal cases, as more victims come forward, revealing a disturbing pattern of abuse that has reportedly persisted for several years.

Claims of Assault During Rituals

The situation began when a seven-month pregnant woman sought assistance to “protect” her unborn child. She was led into Kharat’s private cabin, while her husband waited outside. Once inside, the ambiance changed. The lights were turned off, and she was instructed to close her eyes as chants commenced. She alleged that the ritual devolved into an attempted sexual assault, with Kharat holding and touching her without consent. Terrified, she managed to escape and described the ordeal to her husband, which set off a series of events leading to the ensuing investigation.
