NAMEL supports vulnerable people through its Vulnerable Assistance Program

Piduguralla, Andhra Pradesh: Narketpally-Addanki-Medarametla Expressway Limited (NAMEL) organized an event to commence a 3-year assistance program on 28th September at Palnadu Oasis Convention Centre, Piduguralla, Palnadu district, Andhra Pradesh.

The program is part of Livelihood Enhancement Plan (LEP) designed by Cube Advisors under which financial assistance of Rs. 1,500 per month will be provided for three years to around 230 identified vulnerable people.

During the event, Sri Siva Sankar Lotheti, I.A.S, Collector & District Magistrate, Palnadu District, Andhra Pradesh; Dr. Hari Kishan Reddy, CEO of Cube Advisors; Mr. H M Karna, President, Cube Advisors; Dr. Ashok Sharma, Chief E&S Officer, Cube Advisors; Mr. B.V. Damodara Reddy, SPV Head, NAMEL; Ms Sippy N Kumar, Sr. Vice President, Cube Advisors, and other key stakeholders of the program handed over the demand draft to the identified beneficiaries. From next month, the assistance will be directly transferred to the bank accounts of these beneficiaries.

Dr. Hari Kishan Reddy, CEO of Cube Advisors said, “Cube Highways is committed to inclusive development around the infrastructure projects it operates. This initiative is a part of several other targeted programs designed by Cube Advisors to support livelihoods, improve skills, and facilitate an enabling environment that empowers individuals to explore better economic opportunities.”

Appreciating the program, Sri Siva Sankar Lotheti, I.A.S, Collector & District Magistrate, Palnadu District, Andhra Pradesh said, “I have never seen such a program in 10 years of my service. It is necessary to develop highways which may cause some discomfort to local communities. But it is wonderful to see for the first time that some assistance is being offered to these people.”

He also invited Cube Highways to collaborate with the state government in various programs such as Velugu scheme of APSSDC for Skills Development.

This is a first-of-its-kind program instituted by a highways project awarded under the public-private partnership (PPP) model. The 230 beneficiaries include differently abled, chronically unwell, and other vulnerable people who are not able to benefit from the economic opportunities arising out of the development of the expressway.

The final list of beneficiaries was identified within the project impact area after an extensive study conducted by third party agencies following internationally established best practices.

The Livelihood Enhancement Program will improve economic security and the quality of life of identified individuals and communities through focused interventions aimed at developing skills and providing assets for better income-generating opportunities and livelihoods.
