Nafih Mohammed Naser requests government authorities to ensure the compliance of COVID-19 safety rules.
Delhi schools are all set to reopen for Classes 9th and 11th from 5th February 2021. Delhi’s Education Minister Manish Sisodia while announcing the said decision said that colleges, degree and diploma institutes will also be allowed to open. Child rights activist Nafih Mohammed Naser has requested the government to take the best possible precautionary measures to control the community spread of coronavirus in the school campuses.
The Government is India had allowed the reopening of schools from September 21, 2020, for the first time after the nationwide lockdown in March this year. The state governments were allowed to take a call about reopening of schools as per the Covid-19 situation in the respective state.
However, the Delhi Deputy Chief Minister in a press conference on Friday mentioned that physical attendance will not be compulsory for the students and all the educational institutions will be expected to follow the Covid-19 guidelines.
“Nothing supersedes the welfare and well being of the children. The state governments should be particular about the Covid protocol in the school campuses. I hope my concerns will be addressed soon.”
