CCTV footage has surfaced showing Sachin, the prime suspect in the murder of Congress worker Himani Narwal, dragging a suitcase containing her body. The footage, captured on the night of February 28, shows Sachin dragging the suitcase down a deserted street near Himani’s residence in Rohtak. The suitcase was later discovered near the Sampla bus stand, where authorities found Narwal’s lifeless body inside.
On Monday, the Haryana Police confirmed that Sachin, a resident of Jhajjar, a mobile shop owner, had been arrested after confessing to the crime. According to police reports, Sachin and Himani, 22, became acquainted through social media over a year ago. They had been friends, but their relationship reportedly soured due to financial disputes. Police said that on February 27, Sachin visited Himani’s home in Vijay Nagar, Rohtak, where an argument ensued the following day. This argument escalated, and in a fit of rage, Sachin strangled Himani with the cable of a mobile phone charger.
How the Murder Took Place
After killing her, Sachin allegedly stuffed her body into a suitcase, along with a quilt stained with blood, and discarded it near the bus stand. Before abandoning the body, he took her belongings, including jewellery, her phone, and a laptop, which he later hid at his shop in Jhajjar. The police also revealed that there was no political connection between the two, contrary to some rumors suggesting otherwise. The investigation is still ongoing, with authorities looking into potential financial motives, though the details of the dispute between them remain unclear.
The police also noted that they discovered bite marks and scratches on Sachin’s hands, which he claimed were a result of Himani trying to defend herself. These marks are now a key part of the investigation. The accused’s actions after the murder, including the theft of Himani’s items, have raised further questions about the nature of their relationship.
Himani’s Family Seek Justice
Following the arrest, Himani’s family has called for justice, with her brother demanding the death penalty for the accused. Her mother, Savita, has publicly accused political figures within the Congress party of being involved in her daughter’s death, claiming that her rising political profile and proximity to senior leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, may have made her a target.
In response to the murder, the BJP has questioned the Congress party’s handling of the situation and demanded an investigation into the claims made by Himani’s family. The Congress, on the other hand, has criticised the Haryana government for its handling of law and order in the state, demanding a thorough investigation into the crime.
Authorities have assured the public that all aspects of the case, including financial and personal motives, will be thoroughly examined as they work towards ensuring justice for Himani Narwal.
