A doctor couple from Andheri in Mumbai has gone missing during their pilgrimage to Mansarovar in Nepal. Dr Milind Chitale and his wife, Janvi Chitale, lost contact with their family following severe flooding and adverse weather conditions that have recently ravaged the region.

Distraught relatives have urgently appealed to the state government to initiate search operations and ensure their safe return. The sudden disappearance has sparked deep concern among the local community, friends, and the numerous patients who rely on their medical practice.

Local Community and Patients Await Updates

The Chitales operate a medical clinic in the Malpa Dongri area of MIDC in Andheri East, which has remained shut since August 24, 2026. A notice affixed to the facility’s door informed visiting patients that the doctor would be away on a pilgrimage until September 6, 2026.

Their extended silence has left a significant void, with friends and patients anxiously awaiting any news regarding their welfare. The local medical fraternity has also united in prayer, extending emotional support to the anxious family members during this period of uncertainty.

Urgent Appeals for Search Operations

Seeking immediate assistance, the family has officially reached out to the state government, urging authorities to mobilise resources and coordinate closely with relevant agencies in Nepal. They are pressing for a swift and comprehensive search operation to trace the missing couple and bring them home safely.

While Indian authorities have yet to confirm the launch of an official search mission specifically for the Chitales, their well-being remains the utmost priority. The state government is expected to review their plea and establish communication with Nepalese officials to facilitate the search efforts.
