‘Stole Money From My Company Account’: CA Dies by Suicide After Alleged Blackmail Over Private Video

A 32-year-old chartered accountant from Santacruz East died by suicide after reportedly being blackmailed for more than Rs 3 crore over a period of 18 months. The victim, Raj Leela More, was found dead at his Yashwant Nagar residence after consuming poison. Authorities recovered a detailed three-page suicide note from his room in which he directly named two individuals as responsible for his death.

In the suicide note, More accused Rahul Parwani and Saba Qureshi of exploiting him by threatening to release an intimate video. According to investigators, the accused had discovered More’s significant financial resources, including his stock market investments and high-paying job, and used that knowledge to coerce him into transferring substantial funds from his company’s account into theirs. They also allegedly took possession of a luxury vehicle from him.

Vakola Police confirmed that the victim and Parwani had connected through a social media platform, eventually leading to a physical relationship. Parwani allegedly filmed their private moments without consent and, with Qureshi’s involvement, used the recordings to blackmail More over the course of nearly two years. Law enforcement has since registered a case under sections 308(3), 308(2), 3(5), and 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. While the FIR has been lodged, arrests are still pending.

Accused Assaulted CA’s Mother Before Suicide, Reveals Note

In a particularly distressing revelation from the suicide note, More claimed that the accused had visited his home shortly before his death and assaulted his mother. Police have corroborated this through statements provided by his family, who also confirmed that Raj had been mentally distressed for several months prior to the incident.

The note was structured into three separate messages. One was directed toward his mother, in which he expressed deep sorrow and regret for his actions. He wrote,  “To my dear one, Sorry mother I could not be your good son, you had expectations from me but I’m leaving you alone. I’m going for my deeds. May God never give you son like me in your next life. I have been very bad, Poonam aunty please take care of my mother. I have policy in various accounts take those money and give it to my mother. A big sorry.”

A second part of the letter was addressed to his colleague, Deepa Lakhani, where he admitted to financial misconduct but insisted he acted alone and others were unaware of what he had done,  “To Deepa Lakhani, today I do not have words to say sorry, as I have breached you trust. But trust me this last time. I had no Intension to break your trust. Whatever fraud I did I solely did, no one was aware of anything. I manipulated the statement (account) and send it to you, Shweta and Jayprakash were completely unaware what is going on. Please do not take any action against them.”

Rahul and Saba Responsible for My Death,” CA Wrote in Final Note

On the final page, More held the two accused accountable for driving him to end his life,  “I, Raj More, am committing suicide today. Rahul Parwani is responsible for my suicide. He manipulated me and blackmailed me for months. He forced me to break my savings and stole money from my company account. Rahul Parwani and Saba Qureshi are responsible for my death.”

Police officials are currently working to trace the whereabouts of the accused and are examining financial records and digital evidence. The investigation is ongoing, and further legal action is expected once the suspects are apprehended.

In a separate but similarly disturbing case, a 21-year-old woman in Ahmedabad’s Chandkheda area took her own life after an intimate video, allegedly recorded with her former boyfriend’s consent, was circulated without her permission. After staying at a friend’s house, she reportedly jumped from a terrace the following morning. Though the video was deleted with the help of police, the woman remained distraught. Two individuals — M. Makwana and H. Rabari — have been booked for abetment to suicide in that case as well.

These tragic incidents underline the growing dangers of cyber exploitation and the urgent need for stronger safeguards, victim support systems, and swift legal action in cases of digital blackmail.
