Hand Broken, Stabbed: 14-Year-Old Girl Raped and Brutally Murdered with Blade in Uttarakhand

The CSR Journal Magazine

A 14-year-old girl was raped and murdered in Amiyawala village, Jaspur area of Udham Singh Nagar district, Uttarakhand, on Tuesday evening. The victim, a Class 8 student, had gone to a nearby field to collect sugarcane peels for cattle when she was followed by 20-year-old Rajiv Kumar, a resident of the same village.

Brutal Assault Before Murder

According to police, Rajiv allegedly raped the minor and, when she resisted, inflicted brutal violence. He twisted and broke her arm, choked her until she fell unconscious, and then stabbed her multiple times in the face and abdomen using a sharp-edged blade. Her body, drenched in blood, was found about 150 meters from her home later that night by her mother and villagers.

Emergency medical officer Dr Ashu Singhal said, “There were deep stab wounds on the girl’s abdomen caused by a sharp weapon. Her left arm was broken, and there were injuries on the right side of her body. Her clothes were drenched in blood, and there was excessive bleeding from her private parts, indicating the possibility of sexual assault. Autopsy reports are awaited to ascertain the exact cause of death.”

Community Uproar and Road Blockade

The shocking crime triggered mass outrage in the village. Residents blocked National Highway 74 demanding immediate action. Police teams from nearby stations were deployed to manage the crowd and restore traffic flow after hours of negotiation.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Manikant Mishra said 10 police teams were deployed for the investigation. A sniffer dog traced the route from the crime scene to the house of the accused. Rajiv was arrested within 12 hours of the incident. During interrogation, he initially tried to mislead investigators but eventually confessed. Police recovered the blood-stained blade and his clothes from the day of the crime.

Forensic Evidence and Autopsy

Emergency medical officer Dr. Ashu Singhal reported deep stab wounds on the girl’s abdomen, a broken arm, and excessive bleeding, suggesting sexual assault. The autopsy is pending to confirm the exact cause of death. Forensic teams collected critical evidence, including blood samples, clothing, and the murder weapon.

“We demand that her father be released on parole so he can see his daughter one last time. The killers must be caught immediately,” villagers had said. “Dog squad trails, forensic evidence, and suspicious statements led investigators towards the accused. During interrogation, he initially attempted to mislead the police but later confessed to the crime. A blood-stained blade, his blood-soaked clothes, and other forensic material were also recovered from the scene,” the SSP said.

“Such heinous crimes will not be tolerated under any circumstances. We stand by our zero-tolerance policy towards crime and our commitment to deliver justice,” he added.

Case Registered Under BNS and POCSO

An FIR was filed under Sections 103(1) (murder) and 64(1) (rape) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) along with provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The SSP emphasized that such heinous crimes will face zero tolerance, and justice will be pursued uncompromisingly.

Villagers revealed that the victim was the eldest of four siblings and had faced a troubled childhood. Her father is currently in jail. Locals demanded his temporary release to allow him to attend his daughter’s final rites.
