A very disturbing and gruesome murder case has surfaced in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. A Merchant Navy officer, Saurabh Rajput, was allegedly killed by his wife, Muskan Rastogi, and her lover, Sahil. The Navy officer’s dismembered body was discovered inside a plastic drum. The drum had been filled with cement to conceal the crime. As the body was recovered, the police arrested Muskan and Sahil. Following their arrest both have confessed about their motive and crime.
Who was Saurabh Rajput?
The victim, Saurabh Rajput, was a resident of Indranagar Phase 2 in Brahmpuri. Rajput had recently returned from London, where he was posted for work. Saurabh, had a love marriage Muskan Rastogi from Gauripura in 2016. He had been living with his wife Muskan, 27, and their three-year-old daughter in a rented home in Indranagar Phase 1. Their families were reportedly unhappy with their relationship. This led the couple to live separately in a rented apartment.
The Gruesome Murder
The Police stated that Saurabh was last seen on March 4, the same day he was allegedly murdered. According to Police reports, Muskan and her lover Sahil, 25, confessed to killing Saurabh by stabbing him on March 4. Both then dismembered his body and placed the remains inside a plastic drum. To hide their crime they sealed the drum with cement.
Following the murder, both Muskan and her lover allegedly went on a vacation to a hill station. According to the victim’s family, Muskan also misled them by sending messages from his phone to divert suspicion.
Crime Exposed After Family’s Suspicion
Saurabh’s family was starting to worry as they had not seen their son for weeks. However, the crime was uncovered when Muskan’s mother alerted the police. Muskan had allegedly confessed to the murder to her mother.
The Police then arrested the couple, who led them to the house where the body was hidden. Despite several attempts to open the drum, the drum was sealed due to the hardened cement. The police had to take the drum to the mortuary where it was cut open to recover the body.
Meanwhile, the Locals reported that Muskan had locked the house and told neighbors she was leaving for a trip with her husband to Himachal Pradesh. Meanwhile, she continued to send messages to Saurabh’s family.
