Mahayogi Gorakhnath University, Gorakhpur (MGUG), is rapidly emerging as a model institution by setting new standards in various spheres, be it alignment with the National Education Policy, offering globally relevant and employment-oriented courses, delivering quality Ayurveda and modern medical treatment at affordable rates, fostering innovation, maintaining a disciplined and vibrant campus culture, or promoting environmental sustainability.
MGUG holds the distinction of being the first university in the country to conduct student parliament elections online using its own indigenously developed software. Continuing its commitment to innovation and green practices, the university is now working towards operating its entire campus on solar energy.
President Droupadi Murmu visits the university
On Tuesday, July 1, a significant milestone will be added to MGUG’s illustrious journey as President Droupadi Murmu visits the university—marking the second presidential visit in just four years. The university was inaugurated on August 28, 2021, by then-President Ram Nath Kovind. The upcoming visit by the current President underscores the growing stature of MGUG in the higher education landscape.
During her visit, President Murmu will inaugurate several key infrastructure projects, including a newly constructed academic block, a world-class Panchkarma Medical Centre with 11 state-of-the-art cottages, and a modern auditorium with a seating capacity of around 1,500. She will also lay the foundation stone for a girls’ hostel designed to accommodate 1,000 students and equipped with ultra-modern amenities.
Maharana Pratap Shiksha Parishad
A flagship initiative of Maharana Pratap Shiksha Parishad, MGUG prioritises medical education and its allied fields alongside offering a diverse range of future-focused, skill-based academic programs. The university is currently offering more than two dozen advanced courses in MBBS, BAMS, Nursing, Pharmacy, Paramedical and Allied Health Sciences, Agriculture, and Business Administration.
The vision to make Gorakhpur a ‘Knowledge City’ by the centenary year of Maharana Pratap Shiksha Parishad in 2032, as envisioned by former President Ram Nath Kovind in 2018, is being actively realized by MGUG. Vice Chancellor Dr. Surinder Singh Kak affirms that the university is playing a pivotal role in this transformation through its forward-looking academic ecosystem.
Be two steps ahead of time
Registrar Dr. Pradeep Kumar credits MGUG’s progress to the visionary leadership of its Founder and Chancellor, Gorakshapeethadhishwar and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, whose guiding mantra—“Be two steps ahead of time”—has become a driving force for the institution. This philosophy reflects in MGUG’s efforts to go beyond conventional education systems by nurturing a holistic and progressive learning environment.
In its pursuit of academic excellence and industry relevance, MGUG has signed MoUs with a range of reputed national and international institutions, including the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), Lumbini Buddhist University (Nepal), South Bihar Central University, Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, AIIMS Gorakhpur, KGMU Lucknow, RMRC Gorakhpur, Deendayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University, National Botanical Research Institute, Indian Institute of Seed Science, and several others. These partnerships aim to enhance research, innovation, entrepreneurship, and capacity-building in both education and medicine.
Robust infrastructure
As MGUG accelerates its development, a robust infrastructure is being built to support its ambitions. The university is on track to establish a cutting-edge medical college hospital with 1,800 beds, with construction progressing swiftly.
With its blend of academic rigour, state-of-the-art infrastructure, sustainable practices, and visionary leadership, Mahayogi Gorakhnath University is well on its way to becoming a national exemplar in higher education.
