A horrifying incident of ragging was reported from an ITI college hostel in Thirumangalam, Madurai, where a student was allegedly stripped and assaulted by fellow hostelmates. A disturbing video of the act went viral, showing the victim being mocked and hit with a slipper on his genitals. The incident sparked outrage across social media platforms.

Police Take Action, Warden Suspended

After the victim’s parents filed a formal complaint, local police booked three students involved in the assault. The college hostel’s warden was also suspended pending investigation. Authorities have assured strict disciplinary action against the culprits.

Earlier Ragging Case in Kerala

In a similar incident in February this year, a brutal case of ragging has come to light at the Government Nursing College in Kottayam, Kerala. Five third-year students were arrested for allegedly torturing three first-year students from Thiruvananthapuram over three months, beginning in November 2024.

The victims were stripped naked, had dumbbells hung from their private parts, and were stabbed with compasses from geometry boxes. Lotion was applied to their wounds and smeared into their mouths, causing intense pain. The seniors also recorded the abuse and threatened the juniors with academic consequences. All five accused have been suspended and arrested.
