A social media influencer from Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh, was found dead at her residence on Saturday evening. Nidhi Tiwari, who had approximately 16 lakh followers on platforms such as Facebook and Instagram, was found hanging in an upstairs room of her home. The tragedy unfolded around 8.20 pm, shortly after Nidhi had performed puja. Her family has raised concerns about the events leading to her death, particularly focusing on communication with a man identified as Sonu Singh.

According to family reports, Nidhi went upstairs wearing a Bluetooth earpiece after completing her rituals. Shortly thereafter, Sonu Singh contacted her mother, Hemlata Tiwari, informing her that Nidhi was allegedly attempting suicide. Upon hearing this alarming news, the family rushed upstairs to find the door locked and received no response. They eventually broke the door open, only to find Nidhi hanging from a ceiling fan. She was immediately taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Family’s Allegations Against Sonu Singh

Nidhi’s mother has accused Sonu Singh of closely monitoring her daughter’s activities while exhibiting controlling behaviour. Hemlata claimed that Nidhi worked as a receptionist at Hotel GS Grand in Morwa, a popular accommodation for employees from nearby Northern Coalfields Limited. Hemlata stated that Sonu, employed as an engineer with an NCL outsourcing company, frequently visited Singrauli and had developed a relationship with Nidhi during these visits. Allegedly, he often stayed in contact with her through a Bluetooth device, even in the presence of relatives.

Hemlata asserted that Sonu’s controlling nature escalated as he would question Nidhi’s interactions with friends and family members. She alleged that he had a wife and two children, and they had attempted to discourage Nidhi from continuing their relationship after discovering his marital status. Despite their efforts, Nidhi reportedly remained in contact with him. Following her death, Sonu has reportedly gone missing, his mobile phone switched off, leading to concerns regarding his whereabouts.

Investigations are currently underway, with the police probing into Sonu’s connection to Nidhi and the circumstances surrounding their last conversation. Morwa Police Station in-charge Dr Gyanendra Singh confirmed that all aspects of the case are being investigated, stressing that the real reasons behind Nidhi’s tragic death will be clarified once the investigation concludes.

Nidhi’s Life and Social Media Influence

Nidhi was a prominent social media influencer, sharing content across platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. Her following included nine lakh on Facebook and seven lakh on Instagram, illustrating her significant online presence. Aside from her digital influence, she was also involved in local events and was a participant in various beauty contests.

Her mother described Nidhi as the eldest daughter, carrying significant responsibilities for the family, including working at the hotel and managing to build a new house in the Baidhan area. Hemlata revealed that Nidhi often faced considerable stress, particularly stemming from family dynamics. Nidhi’s father, Ashok Tiwari, originally hailing from Mainpuri district, had left the family after being transferred from his job, leaving Hemlata to raise the children alone.

Nidhi’s last social media post has attracted attention, with poignant reflections on self-worth. In her final message, she stated, “No one completed this incomplete heart, so I completed it myself.” The investigation continues into the circumstances and interactions surrounding her untimely demise, with authorities pursuing all leads related to Sonu Singh’s involvement.
