Howrah youth beaten to death over pending payment of Rs 300 after two wheeler servicing

A youth has been beaten to death over pending payment of Rs 300 in West Bengal. The incident took place at Howrah district’s Bagnan. The deceased Sheikh Abdur Rahman was hit by an iron rod and brutally thrashed by four youths for not being able to pay Rs 300 after servicing of his two-wheeler on Thursday. He died in hospital the following day.

The deceased youth Sheikh Abdur Rahman had reportedly got his motorbike repaired from a shop which charged him Rs 2800. While Abdur paid Rs 2500, he promised to pay the remaining Rs 300 soon. However, he allegedly took his bike for servicing at another shop after this. When the owner of the previous two wheeler servicing shop came to know about this, he allegedly confronted Abdur. Following an altercation, the shop owner along with 3-4 local youths started beating Abdur. They allegedly hit him on his head with an iron rod due to which he fell unconscious. Despite that they kept thrashing him leaving him severely injured and bleeding.

What exactly happened?

According to police and local sources, about five months ago, the young man named Sheikh Abdur Rahman got his motorbike repaired at Matabbar Mallick’s motorcycle repair shop. The bill was Rs 2,800. But at that time, Abdur Rahman paid Rs 2,500 and promised to pay the pending amount soon. Then he went for work in Nepal.

It is known that he returned home from Nepal a few days ago. Allegedly, his motorcycle was not repaired properly, so he took it to another two wheeler servicing shop. The first shopkeeper saw this incident. When Abdur Rahman went to bring the two wheeler in the evening, owner of the previous servicing shop Matabbar Mallick spotted him. He followed Abdur Rahman, surrounded him with 3-4 local youths and demanded the pending payment. Following this, a fight broke out between them.

Allegedly, one of them opened an iron shocker from a two wheeler and hit Abdur Rahman on the head. Locals rescued him in a seriously injured condition and took him to the hospital. He was first taken to Bagnan Rural Hospital. From there, he was transferred to Kolkata. His family members admitted him to SSKM Hospital. He underwent surgery on his head on Thursday night. He died the next day, Friday night.

Bagnan Police register murder case

The incident took place in the Habal area of ​​West Bainan under Bagnan police station. The beating took place on Thursday, November 13 and the youth passed away in hospital on the following day. Bagnan police have registered a murder case in this incident. They have started an investigation. However, no one has been arrested in this case so far.

Deceased Abdur Rahman’s mother Sheikh Farida said, “I can’t imagine that they would kill my son only for Rs 300. I heard that even after the boy fell to the ground covered in blood, they kept kicking and punching him. They beat my son in an inhuman way. I want them to be punished strictly.” She demanded, “The police should punish them.”

The police said that an investigation has been started by filing a murder case. A search is underway for the accused.
