Karnataka Shocker: Husband Kills Pregnant Wife, then Dies by Suicide in Badagundi

A very devastating incident has sent shockwaves through Badagundi village in . Here, a 52-year-old man allegedly murdered his pregnant wife. The man then himself died by suicide. The grim discovery of the couple’s bodies was made on Thursday morning. The incident is suspected to stem from a domestic dispute between the couple.

Neighbours alert the police

According to reports, the deceased have been identified as Thimmappa Rama Moolya (52) and his wife, Jayanthi (45). The incident came to light after the neighbors noticed an unusual silence. They also informed the police that the doors of the couple’s home in Navoor village were closed.

Suspicions led the locals to alert authorities. The police authorities immediately reached the spot. The doors of the couple’s house were broken leading to the heartbreaking revelation around 8:00 AM on Thursday. Police believe the incident occurred sometime between 11 PM on Wednesday and Thursday morning.

Husband strangles pregnant wife to death

Police investigations into the matter suggest that Thimmappa allegedly strangled Jayanthi following a heated domestic quarrel over a minor issue. The argument is said to have escalated fatally. The husband, Thimmappa reportedly died by suicide, hanging himself near the kitchen area.

According to police reports and locals’ statements the couple, married for 15 years. Adding another layer to the tragedy is that Jayanthi was pregnant after more than a decade of marriage. The locals informed that her baby shower ceremony (Seemantha) was eagerly anticipated. It was scheduled for the first week of July. This deeply saddening detail has plunged both families into profound grief.

Complaint filed by woman’s sister

Following the incident, Jayanthi’s sister, Sujatha (40), from Farangipete filed a complaint at the police station. A police case has been registered at the Bantwal Rural Police Station under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS).

In addition to this, Thimmappa’s elder brother, Vishwanath (55), of Sajipa Mooda, Bantwal, filed a separate complaint. This led to an unnatural death report being registered under Section 194 (unnatural death) of the BNS.

Senior police officials have visited the scene as a detailed investigation is currently underway to ascertain the exact cause and sequence of events that led to this horrific murder-suicide.
